Midland Spring Road Relays, Sat 17th March 2018, Sutton Park, Birmingham

ImageThe day started with the 5K age group championships and 1st and 2nd places for Zac and Dillon in the under 17 boys. Further report to follow.

The Ladies 6 stage and Men's 12 stage races are pretty much run concurrently so it is a great chance to see each other and give support. This was useful as conditions on the day were awful and any encouragement was gratefully accepted. The amber weather warning, gusty winds and the 'min-beast from the east' seemed to have had an effect on numbers which was evident from the thinning of the field and the lack of club tents. With many local events being cancelled this weekend we were probably lucky to be running at all. However, there was still plenty of quality racing going on. Everyone gave their best under extremely taxing conditions and debutante Tim even said he really enjoyed it. Weird. Maybe that had something to do with a 5K PB.  Rob came in looking like he had been in a snowball fight whilst Tahir was considering his previous life choice to leave sunny Leeds for snowy Birmingham.
