NICE 10K Run Cannon Hill Park: Sunday 4 November 2018 Print

This (slightly belated) race report for the annual Conductive Education 10K race is provided to recognize a great performance by Krissie Davies who was the first female to finish having run a personal best at this distance.  Following on from her PB in the recent Birmingham Half-Marathon, Krissie is clearly in excellent shape and good form!

The well-established annual race was held on Sunday 4 November in Cannon Hill Park.  The two-lap course has been slightly amended so that runners stay within the confines of Cannon Hill Park which looks lovely at this time of the year with the trees in their autumnal colours.  As ever it was very well supported and marshaled with lots of encouragement around the course followed by a fine selection of homemade cakes and hot drinks at the NICE headquarters after the race.  161 runners competed in the race in good conditions.  Lots and lots of Bournville Harriers and Kings Heath RC runners on display as to be expected given the location, but also a decent smattering of the Sparkhill red and black.

Sparkhill performances on the day:

 12 Zac Minchin
 40.18
 30 Rob Mills
 44.48
 36 Krissie Davies 45.34   (1st woman)
 74 Megan Harris 50.39
 76
 Stuart Minchin 51.01
 87 Jenny Price 53.42

It was also good to see former Sparkhill Harrier, Carol Austen running.  Since moving to Devon Carol has been running with Axe Valley Running Club and clearly hasn't lost her running prowess, finishing 45th in 47.14.

Overall this was an enjoyable event with particularly good performances by Krissie and our junior runner Zac. Recommended for next year.
