Sparkhill Harriers Extraordinary General Meeting Print
The club will be holding an extraordinary general meeting following the Christmas Handicap Cross Country Run on Sunday 16 December 2018.

It is anticipated that it will be very brief and is called to vote on a minor amendment to the club's constitution.

You may recall from the AGM that it was proposed to allow relevant club officers (Chair, Club Secretary and Membership Secretary) to serve beyond the stipulated five year period where there are no volunteers or applicants for the post.  It has been confirmed that the proposed change will not affect the club's CASC status.  The proposal is as follows:

Proposed amendment to Sparkhill Harriers Constitution

For consideration at Extraordinary General Meeting to be held at Foxhollies Leisure Centre on Sunday 16 December 2018:

The Constitution currently states:

2) OFFICERS

The Officers of the Club shall consist of:

The Chair of the Executive Committee, who shall be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting, may hold office for a maximum of 5 years.

The Honorary Secretary, who shall be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting, may hold office for a maximum of 5 years.

The Honorary Membership Secretary, who shall be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting, may hold office for a maximum of 5 years.

We wish to cover the situation where there are no volunteers/applicants for the above posts at the completion of the incumbent’s five-year tenure.  It is proposed that the Constitution be amended as follows:

Insert into section 2 above an additional sentence –

“In the event of there being no applicant or volunteer for any of the above posts on completion of the five-year tenure, the incumbent may be re-elected on an annual basis until a suitable successor is appointed.”

Thanks,

Rob
