HoE Young Athletes T&F League, Match#1, Sun 10/06/12, Kidderminster and Stourport Print

Match No 1, Sunday 10th June at the Kidderminster and Stourport Track

Under 13 runner, Erica Hygate kicked off the day’s events with a gallant effort, battling bravely to finish the 1500m race despite still suffering from a bug she had picked up earlier in the week.

In the Under 11 girls group, both Louise Gallagher and Katriana Lightfoot achieved PBs in the long jump. Next came the 600m; a late arriving Tasleemah Khan flew round the first 100m, while club mate Emma Stringer controlled herself. Tasleemah suffered in the 2nd half of the race, while Emma came through to pass Tas on the final 100 meters. In the 75 metre sprint Kat stormed down the straight to take ½ a second off her PB.

The two Under 11 boys both did well; Matthew Smith ran a very good 600m, while a very young Tom Mills acquitted himself very well in his events.

The U/11 mixed relay team of Tom, Kat, Louise and Matthew ran well to finish 2nd in this event.
