West Midlands Young Athletes XC League, Match No 2, Sun 9th Nov 2009, Wolverhampton Print

Aldersley Stadium,Wolverhampton.

After the 2 minutes silence for all our soldiers who have given their lives for this country, the U/11 girls as usual got proceedings under way in this 2nd off 5 meetings.

Joanne Humphries was the 1st of our 3 girls around this slightly undulating course coming home 32nd out of 106, an improvement of 11 places on her previous performance.Next came Katy Williams 53rd, slightly down on last time but still overcoming a cold from the past week or two.Our 3rd runner Caitlin Butler was 91st but still managed a smile as she crossed the line and very much looking forward to the soup tucked away in her bag. WELL DONE GIRLS.

Only one boy turned out today,William Thompson in the u/13 race.On the start surrounded by boys a lot taller than himself, William set off steadily and soon encountered another problem with a runner falling in front of himself.Around the one and a half mile course William battled on to finish 94th out of 101.

Thank you to all the parents and club members for officiating.

Next meeting Sandwell Valley December 13th, we could do with a few more athletes.
