Division 3 requires more League officials Print

Carolyn Franks from the Birmingham XC League writes >

We are sadly lacking in timekeepers and judges in your Division for this coming cross country season. We therefore ask you to urgently talk to members of your Club to see if you can recruit any new people to learn and actually perform the duties of these roles on the day for the final 3 fixtures.

It is not too complicated or difficult a job and training and coaching can be given on the day by experienced officials.

We do hope you can provide some names to make the meeting run more smoothly and efficiently for the benefit of your athletes.

Thank you and regards

Rearrangement of summer event. Print

We would normally be doing the summer event next month but as the track will be shut from June 10th this will not be possible.

In its place we will be arranging a grand reopening event for juniors and seniors in early September. The date and details will appear later once we have confirmed the completion of the track refurbishment.

Great news for Sparkhill Harriers! Print
Following the successful funding bid for refurbishment of the running track and athletics facilities at Foxhollies, the work is about to begin.
The contractors have completed site visits and will start work on Monday 10 June
The work completion date is 30 August 2013.
We will then have a new 6 lane running track (with 8 lane 100 metre straight) as well as a new long-jump pit, a high-jump fan and a practice area for shot putt.
The contractors will have sole access to the site for the duration of the works so we will have no access to the track over this period.
However Ninestiles School -together with Foxhollies Leisure Centre- has very kindly agreed for us to use the large playing field to continue our Summer training and will be marking out a running track on the grass for us.  We will continue to have use of the fitness suite and Sparkhill "office" as usual.
Club nights will therefore continue as usual pending the opening of the new track: delivery and collection times and location for the junior athletes will remain unchanged.
