Coventry Godiva Harriers New Year 5, Warwick University, 29 December 2013 Print

Mick Edwards writes >

On Sunday 29th December I went along to Warwick uni for a road race organised by Coventry Godiva,on a crisp and frosty morning we ran 1 small and 2 large laps all within the uni campus conditions under foot were good with a few twists and turns on each lap. A flat course ideal for a PB,I finished 73rd in a field of 136 with a time of 35mins 45sec a nice way to finish 2013 with my fastest time over 5 miles this year.

Sneyd Striders Christmas Pudding Run 10 Mile, Bloxwich Sunday 8th December 2013 Print

Andy Wadsworth writes >

I thought a seasonal run seemed appropriate at this time of year, what could be better than one in the West Midlands offering a Christmas pudding in a goody bag to all finishers. Well organised facilities at a local school and plenty of encouraging marshals around the course.
379 finishers, predominantly club runners with a noticeable international contingent from ASC Drancy in France including one chap who ran baguette in hand. Two laps around a predominantly flat course in ideal conditions for December, slight breeze, pleasant temperature at least for December, and a gradual descent over the last three quarters of a mile to the finsh allowing a long sprint for home and the opportunity to gain a number of places.
Two finishers from Sparkhill

ING New York City Marathon, November 3rd 2013 Print

Clare writes >

I thought you might be interested in my New York City Marathon result - 3:49:36 - I had to register in my former married name (as it appears on my passport).

The race was an unforgettable experience and the crowds were easily the highlight of the race - amazing!

Apparently (though I can't verify this) there were just short of 50,000 finishers.

Tavy7, Sunday 27 October 2013 Print

Mick Edwards writes >

While spending a week down in Plymouth I competed in the Tavy7, a seven mile road race on the edge of Dartmoor about 3 mile outside of Tavistock. The race should have started at 12 noon but because we had a really bad downpour it was delayed 10mins and everyone had to take shelter in the admin tent. When the race finally got underway it was still raining and very windy but after about 5mins it stop raining and the sun came out.It is a very hilly course the first mile is all up hill and the best part of the course is between 3 and 4 miles as it is all down hill and then up hill to the 5th mile with a undulating last 2 miles to the finish. In a field of 333 runners I finish 78th in a time of 52mins 6secs and 1st in my age group o/65. If anyone is ever down this way and looking for a race I would recommend that they come and try it for themselves.
