Knowle Fun Run Sunday 15 May 2016 Print

The successful Pershore Panthers team receiving the ‘trophy’. L-R Chris Brees, Jonathan Scott, Richard van Bowpitt, William McKemey

A local community fun run promising good weather and strong crowd support ensured a decent Harriers turnout at the Knowle Fun Run on Sunday. The two lap, 5.2 mile course, began on Arden school playing fields and continued through the tennis courts before heading along Knowle High Street. Although run on closed roads, the volume of over 1150 participants made running tricky on the second lap, without having to contend with impressively accurate water-pistol snipers and a Viking longboat.

Undeterred, the four strong ‘Pershore Panthers’ team managed to overcome the 52 other teams entered in the adult team race to finish in a combined time of 02.07.09. Particularly pleasing as this meant we were able to beat Knowle and Dorridge Running Club on their home patch, despite them entering 11 (eleven!) teams.

National Masters Road Relays, Sutton Park, Saturday 14th May 2016 Print

Many thanks to Darren Riley for diligently organizing the Sparkhill team. For all his efforts we were only able to turn out 1 team - that being in the Men's V45 category. Patrick traveled with a bad back so Darren stepped in as his replacement at the last moment.

Well done to all the old uns that did the requisite 4 short legs (roughly 5K) on a nice sunny early summer day in the lovely surroundings of Sutton Park.
