Coven Canter 10K, Sunday 27th October 2103 Print

Andy Wadsworth writes >

Sunday 27th October Coven Canter organised by Wolverhampton and Bilston.

Well I did think about having a rest following last weeks half marathon, however looked at a flyer I had for a 10K multi terrain race and thought lets give it a go. Suitable way for a cross country novice like me to gain a tiny bit of experience. Runners mainly from W&B, Dudley K and Telford and single vests from a number of other clubs plus one Sparkhill assembled on the start line, on what looks like a new technology park near the M54. The terrain was certainly multi, footpaths through woods, muddy partially built roads through the new tech park, crossing a soft turnip field, then a long uphill hall into the teeth of a wind back to the start.

A bright orange tech tee shirt for my troubles which may appear on a club night and a pleasing results considering the conditions.

Midlands XC relays, Walsall Arboretum, Sat 5th October 2013 Print

Image13 Sparkhill athletes turned out for the first cross country fixture of the season at Walsall Arboretum. Great to see 2 XC débutantes in Alistair and Julie.

Conditions were good with the ground firm and only slightly muddy in places. Some people even complained it was getting too hot out there! The ladies raced the same distance as the men at 6K but with a 3 person team compared to the 4 runner men's team.
