MMAC Cross Country Championships, 19th January 2014 Print

ImageThe Midland vets cross country championships took place on a sunny Sunday morning on 19th January on the Aldersley stadium course, Wolverhampton. Not surprisingly, the course was wet and muddy, so much so that the only 'climb' onto the old railway line was re-routed out of the course by the officials on the morning of the race as being a bit treacherous as they called it. The ladies and M65s and above raced over three 2k laps, M35-M60 four laps of the same course.

Mick Edwards continued his good form, claiming the silver medal in the M65 category (25mins 23secs), a mere 15 seconds behind the winner from Worcester. I managed the bronze in the M50s (29mins 10secs), again only 15 secs behind the silver medal winner. I was particularly pleased, as the first and second runners in the M50 category both represented England at the home international cross country race back in November.
