Midland XC Championships, Wollaton Park, Nottingham, Saturday 24th January 2015 Print

ImageA small but hardy contingent from Sparkhill tacked this difficult course in Nottingham. It was either thigh burning hills or foot deep Glastonbury type mud on the men's 12K and ladies' 8K course. Although we did not have enough runners for a team result all runners gave a credible account of themselves. Well done.

Birmingham XC League, race#3, Droitwich, Sat 10th January 2015 Print

ImageAnother difficult day at the office for the men's team with Darren still out due to a foot injury and a number of people pulling out sick. We all hope the problems get better soon lads.

For the rest of us the course was relatively fast and not too muddy with pretty much perfect weather. Thankfully we had less laps of the start field this year. Many thanks for the great support especially from the ladies that stuck around after their race.

As an aside, some may have noticed  some very accomplished runners at the race. Leading the field was 800/1500 specialist Jessica Judd who has represented GB at the European championships, world championships and England in the commonwealth games. In 6th place representing BRAT was triathlon royalty in Chrissie Wellington. For those who don't know, Chrissie is a former 4 time world Ironman champion and world record holder.

Warwickshire Cross Country Championships, Cofton Park , 3rd January 2015 Print

ImageAgain a great turn out from both the ladies and gents. Despite earlier dismal weather the afternoon stayed dry for both races - at least the stuff falling downwards. Conditions under foot were soft to say the least with Cofton Park providing a challenging course with some testing hill sections.

Well done all those that competed especially those making their débuts. A special mention also to Ema Stringer who was the only junior to compete for the club on this occasion (U13 girls).
